The Edwardian conservatory at Wallington (in the walled garden) dates from 1908. It was designed by Mackenzie & Moncur Ltd, who built conservatories and hot houses throughout Scotland and England from the 1850s. The conservatory was used by the Trevelyan family as a winter garden, full of scent and colour. It is heated by a biomass boiler with wood from the estate. Visitors can see a changing display all year, thanks to Beck Orton who looks after it. Stars in January are Cyclamen persicum, Abutilon 'Nabob', Primula malacoides and Tibouchina urvilleana (glory bush). The conservatory is open every day
